What is electricity deregulation?

Electric deregulation refers to a state deciding that customers should be allowed to choose an electricity supplier by letting competition enter a market where only a regulated utility monopoly existed before. Customers in Illinois have the ability to choose the company who will supply your electricity.

What are the benefits of deregulation?

As a result of deregulation, customers are now able to choose their electric supplier. This competitive market drives innovation and can help keep energy costs low.

Will choosing a new supplier change the reliability of my electric service?

No, the quality of the delivery of electric services will be the same regardless of whether it is supplied by your local utility company or another supplier. The local utility company still will deliver in a safe and reliable manner.

Who should I contact about power outages or repairs?

Contact the appropriate local utility. They are responsible for the maintenance and transmission of your energy. The phone number can be found on your last bill.

If I switch suppliers, who will send me the bill?

Your local utility company will continue to send you an invoice each month but you will now be billed at the reduced Nordic rate for your energy charges

Who Do I Pay?

You will receive a single consolidated bill from your local utility company. You will remit payment directly to your local utility company.

Will I Keep My Budget Billing and/or Auto Debit payment option?

All existing billing/payment options with your local utility company will remain the same.

Who do I call if I have questions about my bill?

If your question is about the supply-call the supplier. If you have questions about the delivery or the usage, you should call the utility.

Who is Nordic Energy?

Nordic Energy Services, LLC ("Nordic") is an independently owned Chicago based energy management firm and is an ICC certified Alternative Retail Electric Supplier.

What do I need to do to enroll in the Nordic program?

Enrolling is easy. First go to the "Enroll Now" section and enter your ComEd or Ameren account number as well as your service address and billing information in order to get a custom price. If you are interested in enrolling, simply select the price and term that you want and Nordic will do the rest.
